Newsweek, Stupid Move

I don't normally agree with Sarah Palin. I kind of think she is a little bit crazy. But I do agree with her on this. You might have seen the story on Yahoo today.

Newsweek is using this photo as the cover as its magazine and Sarah Palin called it sexist. And so do I. The picture was originally used as the cover as Runner's World, which actually makes sense.

This is what the Newsweek editor said,

"We chose the most interesting image available to us to illustrate the theme of the cover, which is what we always try to do. We apply the same test to photographs of any public figure, male or female: does the image convey what we are saying? That is a gender-neutral standard."

Does that even make sense? No. Would a picture like this of a male political figure ever be on a national news magazine? If there is one, show me. I just don't think one exists.

While not many male politicians would have a picture like this in Newsweek, it's also true that not many politicians are like Sarah Palin. She has promoted this 'going rogue' image of herself, and she's reaping the fallout.

Personally, I find nothing wrong with the picture at all. If a person is going to enter the public life, they should understand that everything they do in public is up for commentary & remixing.
