Where Am I?

In line. For my first midnight showing of Harry Potter. Can you believe that? It is actually the first time I am watching a Harry Potter movie on opening night. I usually procrastinate buying the movie tickets and  miss out on it. But not tonight.

This is also my first midnight showing since X-Men 3. That was in college. I am not in college anymore. But I don't think I'll have a problem staying awake.

And I am not too old to like Harry Potter. He has been a part of me for more than 10 years.

Summer 2011 Movies

I can count on three fingers the movies I liked in the theater last year and that were worth my money.

But this year is making up for next year.

And without further ado, some of the movies I am looking forward to.

May 6- I read the book and it was a good, short, fun read. I hope the movie is just as good. 

June 10. I love Kyle Chandler. Remember Early Edition?

June 17. Green Lantern.

 July 1. Transformers. I have blocked the second one from my mind. 

July 15. This one really deserves a post on its own. Also, I have you seen all the cool posters for it? It is so hard to choose just one. And, I am totally seeing this one at midnight. Nothing will stop me, not even work. (Because I won't have to work the next day!)

July 29. I love Daniel Craig. 

And these are the only ones that I am looking forward to. There are so many more that I can discover.

Julie and Julia

This movie was fantastic; I love it. I know I just ranted about how there doesn't seem to be any good movies. This one definitely does not fall into that category. I love how it was so down to earth and was truly feel good. I am sort of easily influenced, so of course I now want to buy Mastering the Art of French Cooking.  Of course, I am not ready to take on French cooking at this time in my life right now. But maybe someday. 

Up next, The Box. Which I won tickets to but never picked up. I don't think that movie will be good at all, but I really want to see it.

Movies

Is anyone else disappointed with movies lately? Chris and I have gone to a few matinees in the past few weeks. We've seen The Lovely Bones, When in Rome, and The Lightning Thief. It's like people don't know how to make good movies anymore. Mostly, I think that it is because I need more out of entertainment.

I love books and I love television. Both give you time to learn about the characters and feel for them and watch them grow, etc. I love the relationship you get with characters in those two forms of entertainment.

Maybe I expect to much out of movies. There are a few movies that I am excited for about this year. Harry Potter, Toy Story 3. But besides that, I am more excited for the final season of Lost.

I totally forget that this came out this year! 

The Lovely Bones

I read the book and I liked it. But the movie is kind of weird. And different. Of course the book was better, there is hardly ever a time when that isn't true. (Except with Nicholas Sparks books. In my experience (for the two books of his I read), the movie was better. Which is why I don't read Nicholas Sparks books, or se movies based on them.

I digress. The previews for The Lovely Bones are completely misleading. It makes you think it is about Suzy (the main character) helping her dad solve her murder while she is in the "in between." While the movie focuses on that a bit, it isn't really thought out well. I thought the movie had good pieces here and there, but too many of them.

If you are going to direct a movie, pick a part of the book to focus on and do it right. Don't pick every aspect and do half a job. It just ends up being an unnecessarily long movie.

That is another thing that has been bothering me. Why do all movies have to be soooo long. Unless it is Harry Potter, I really don't want to sit through a long movie unless it is at my house. I guess I am just getting too old.

I was the 10th caller on Mix 107.9 today. And guess what I won!

Two tickets to The Box


So, it isn't the most exciting prize, but I have been wanting to see this movie. Except I have to go up to Salt Lake to pick up the tickets in the next 30 days. Whatever.

But, I won. Its the first time I have ever won on the radio!

Wind Chill

On Saturday night we stayed in and watched scary movies on Lifetime.

This was one of them.

It wasn't scary at all. If you ever want to watch a non scary, scary movie, watch this one. There was no climax and I was waiting the whole time for something to just happen.

Then we watched this.


Which was suspenseful. And a little scary.

Basically the moral of the story that Lifetime was trying to tell us was never leave the interstate. In both movies the people took a shortcut off the interstate and got into trouble.

We didn't dress up for Halloween. That is because we are of the opinion that unless we are under 12 or have children under 12, then there is no point in celebrating Halloween. Maybe next year. But I will carve pumpkins and watch scary movies.

Knowing

Worst movie. It was laughable. The acting was horrible. The plot was stupid. The writing was disgusting. I can't believe this film even made it to theaters.

Chris hates Nicolas Cage, but I usually like the movies he is in. Not his one. Where did his acting skills go?

If you want to laugh, watch this movie.

Harry Potter

This is so much better on the big screen, but I am so excited for this movie. Only 49 days left!

Summer Movies

I think this might be the best summer ever for movies, and it already started this weekend.

Chris and I saw Wolverine. I have always been a huge X-men (movie) fan, and this did not disappoint. It even had twists-which every good story needs to have.

But that is not the only good movie this summer. For the next few weeks, there is a movie coming out every week that I want to see. I haven't been this excited to see a movie since High School Musical 3!

Star Trek- May 8

Angels and Demons- May 15 (Loved the book! Much better than the Da Vinci Code)

Terminator Salvation- May 21 (I think I want to see this movie. I might have to wait because I know Chris doesn't want to see it.)

Night at the Museum- May 22
