American Idol
Vote for the Worst is an awesome website. They seem to have a love-hate relationship with American Idol. And they have tons of conspiracies, some valid, about how it is run.
This girl is not so good. Her voice could be good, but I think she just doesn't have enough practice. If you don't watch American Idol, you should just watch Megan sing and laugh. She dances like she is a waddling penguin.
You will be disappointed.

Contradictory much?
I love watching the show Jon and Kate plus 8. I think the little kids are so cute and it kind of makes me wish I was Asian so I can have cute little kids.
Anyways, if anyone saw the teasers for the season finale this week, it made it seem like Jon and Kate were getting a divorce or something. They would say things like "We are working hard to get through this," "This is a difficult time for us right now." Are they getting divorced? NO. Stupid TLC making us think something that isn't going to happen.
But they might not come back for another season (that is their dilemma.) I was checking on a blog to see if there were any spoilers on them coming back and started reading some of the comments. Some people are stupid like this one lady.
So yeah, I thought that was funny.
Note: Ugh, I can't get the last half of this post to not be in italics!!!! I have spent so long trying to change it and it isn't working.

Photoshop Elements
I made a deal with myself that if I took my final for my independent study class, then I could start doing my photography again. Well, I downloaded the free trial for Photoshop Elements and these were some of my pictures.
I don't know if I like the last picture. Plus I didn't take it, I just edited. But I did take the first one, it was at Mount Timp.

Employment
I am currently trying to hire people at work. I thought I had all the positions filled, but people got other offers or weren't completely honest about when they could start.
I have looked at tons of resumes, called lots of people and done about a dozen of interviews with more to come. I start to notice patterns of things I dislike in prospective new hires.
If you are looking for a job, here are a few basic tips that might help you.
1. Learn how to create a resume. A simple google search brings up tons of sites that give tips for resumes. If you are still at a university, I am pretty sure most offer classes on creating a resume. Also, get a friend to proofread it.
2. A resume should only be one page long. When I have to go through 50+ resumes, I don't care that you have written a 3 page essay on why you want to work for our company. (True Story)
3. Don't put interests on a resume. Being interested in ballroom dancing and canoeing doesn't matter to me when I am hiring for a sales position.
4. Please don't put every single job you have ever had on a resume, especially if it doesn't apply. Again, I don't care that you have been part of a dance company for 10 years and include every production that you have been in. Again, this is a sales position.
5. When someone calls to schedule an interview, don't ask if they can call you back later because you aren't sure if you want the job. Why submit a resume if you aren't sure?!
6. Don't ask if you should dress up for the interview. Just do it.
7. Don't ask the secretary of the company to print off your resume. Come prepared. There's something called Kinkos where you can take a jump drive and print off anything.
8. In the interview, don't say that you will just be in the current position until something better comes along.
9. Prepare for standard interview questions. "What are you weaknesses?..."
10. Don't call the company a million times after they didn't offer you a job.
11. Don't expect a company to hold a job for you when you tell them you are entertaining other offers. Especially when it is a small business.
Those are a few of my gripes. It is so easy to look and act presentable so just do it. You are trying to sell yourself and coming off as sloppy and unprepared is annoying.

Marley and Me
Don't read this if you don't want to be spoiled. Marley dies in the end. Someone spoiled it for me. (Chris) But I guess I should have expected this.
Marley is a bad dog. I don't know if I could stand to keep a dog like that around, but the Grogan's did and their life was better for it.
We have always had dog. Onyx, Autumn, Anya, Cali, Maggie, Macy, Pluto, Simeko... All different types of dogs, Viszla, Lab, Chow, German Shepard and mixes. I can say that life is better with a dog who unconditionally loves you. There were times in the book where Marley would do something wrong and his owners would scream and yell at him, but he would love them unconditionally.
Hopefully, we can get a dog at the end of the year when Chris graduates. And who doesn't like looking at pictures of puppies!

Europe Flight- New Discovery
Chris found that every year there is one destination in Europe where the flights are cheaper. This year it is Ireland and the flights are significantly cheaper- like $182/person cheaper.
Ireland wasn't in our original itinerary but I guess it will be. We were planning to go eventually, just not this time. But these pictures make it look amazing!

Flying to Europe
I am planning a trip to Europe. Not just for fun, but because Chris and I might be going at the end of the summer. We are waiting to hear about some internships before we can make a decision. So every once in a while I might post my findings about Europe.
Right now I want to post my ranting about how expensive airline tickets are. I don't even know why I am doing this part because Chris is much better finding cheap tickets.
We would be flying to Europe in August to give us time to save up the money. Mistake #1. I guess that is the most expensive time to fly in the summer, but we don't really have a choice.
I am open to where in Europe we fly. So I was searching to find which city would be less than $700. The best would be $600.
Between Tuesday and Thursday are the best day to fly, so I picked August 4th. Also, we get double miles if we fly Delta, so I have only looked there for right now. The cheapest was $832 to London and ranged to $1080 to Rome or Athens.
Ugh. I really want to go, but I cannot pay that much for a flight. I will find it cheaper. Or most likely Chris will.

This is me.
There was a post on Dear Abby today that sounded exactly like I had written-except I wasn't laid off from my job nor am I looking for another one.
I have accepted this personality trait, but it may be interfering with my finding a job. I was recently laid off, and I'm applying for and interviewing for a new one. However, after numerous interviews I have not been invited back for a second one.--WANTS TO BE HIRED IN WISCONSIN
I also accept my shyness as a personality trait that those who love me can see past it and and some will get past and and know me better. But I have been told a few times that people thought I hated them the first time we met.
Well, to anyone who thinks that now, it isn't true! I don't hate anyone and most of the people who I have met recently I think are great people who I would like to get to know better, I just hold back a bit. I am trying to work on it, but it seems that I have my Dad's personality which is just fine to me.
